6 Tips to Help Cut Down on Travel Costs

Travel can be scary to some because of the price tag that can come along with it. I completely understand, it use to make me very nervous and worried too. Until I discovered some small things that can make a big difference. The first thing can seem very obvious, watch what you are packing. As many of you are aware, if your suitcase weighs over a certain amount (depends on the airline or train system), you can be charged an extra fee. Think about what all you really need to bring with you. Do you really need that extra dress on the off chance that you go somewhere nice? or…

    See Rock City

If you’ve ever been down in southern U.S. you may have noticed barns along the highways that have “See Rock City” painted on their roofs and on the side of the barns. Some of you may know what is, other not so much. Rock City is located outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee at Lookout Mountain. It was mentioned in two diaries during the Civil War, one was in the diary of a Union Soldier, the other a Confederate Nurse, that from the top you could see 7 states. It wasn’t until the 1930s that Rick City would become what it is today. Garnet and Freida Carter started their adventure into creating…

    Inspiration Peak, Minnesota

One of the many things I love doing when traveling, and even in my spare time is hiking and going on trails. Since I was a kid, on of my favorites was going to a place called Inspiration Peak. Located not far from the Continental Divide, in Clitherall Minnesota, is the 1,750 feet above sea level peak and is the highest point in Ottertail County Minnesota. Inspiration Peak got it’s name due to the author Sinclair Lewis going there to gain “inspiration” for his novels, short stories, and plays. He wrote about the peak saying,“There’s to be seen a glorious 20-mile circle of some 50 lakes scattered among fields and…

Well I can tell you not only where the heck it is but also what the heck it is! I recently took a trip to South Dakota with my family to see Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Sturgis, and of course the infamous Wall Drug. I have had these stops on my bucket list for years now, especially Wall Drug after the story my Granddaddy told me growing up. 25 years prior to this trip my parents took one with my Granddaddy to see Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. As they made the drive they passed a numerous amount of signs advertising Wall Drug. It was a place he wanted to…

Summer adventure plans and 4th of July

Hey y’all, I know it’s tough right now to do any big traveling, BUT is there anything fun you have done so far this summer? Have you just been relaxing? Traveled anywhere? Planning on anything fun? I have just been enjoying time at the lake relaxing, kayaking, swimming, and working on some great posts that will be coming soon. I spent my 4th of July doing a boat parade, a classic car cruise, as well as enjoying the fireworks. The lake my family lives on does a boat parade; the lake community comes together and decorates their boats with USA pride, line up, and cruise around the lake showing off…

    Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store

Minnesota’s largest candy store is one “sweet” place you need to put on your places to go list. It was opened in 1978 and is a family owned business. Now what makes this place so neat is a combination of many different things. It is home to candies from all over the world, fun flavors of soda, homemade fudges and pies, jelly, jams, sauces, and all the cool things to see! They have such a cool ceiling in both the silo and the barn, an animatronic band, an old phone booth, and for all my nerds out there a replica Doctor Who T.A.R.D.I.S.! You could spend all day in that…
