The Fargo Airsho

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… Actually it is a plane! On July 27, 2024, I had the opportunity to once again attend the renowned Fargo Airsho! This year’s performers were brilliant. With the headliners being Vicky Benzing and her “Plum Crazy” P-51D, The United States Air Force F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, and of course The United States Navy Blue Angels, how could it be anything but? Not only were we graced with an exhilarating show of skill by our armed forces and dazzled by Vicky and her stunts, but we were shown the spectacular flying of Pilot Tom Larkin in his Mini Jet, Kent Pietsch with his comedic flying, The Horsemen Flight Team in their P-51 Mustangs, RAD Aerosports, the amazing flight skills of Paul Lindemann, Skydive Fargo, A-10 Tactical Demonstrations along with the KC-135 Stratofortress in air refueling demonstration, AND a Warbird from the Fargo Air museum. But the most special in my eyes, was the Air Force Heritage Flight. Done through the Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation, this is a tribute to those who have served in the United States Air Force since it’s foundation in 1947. It was a truly spectacular performance. The Fargo Airsho continues to one-up itself with every event!

While there, we also got to see some cutting-edge planes up close and even witness the tugging of the Warthogs off the runway! There were a plethora of booths to check out, and some even host challenges! Such as a pull-up challenge you can do at one of the military branches’ booths. This year they also hosted a STEM booth for anyone interested in the fields. There was also a photo-op you could do in the cockpit of an F-18 Hornet as seen in Top Gun Maverick! Plus performances by the Ladies for Liberty and the Navy Band Great Lakes. And let’s not forget every child’s (or adult with a childish side) favorite, bounce houses!

Tickets for this are very affordable when you consider that you will be there all day, see a variety of spectacular performances with virtually no lulls, and all of the attractions that are around. At $30 for adults, $20 for ages 11-17, and 10 and under being free, how could you not attend? Just make sure you bring your water bottle, lawn chairs or blanket, sunglasses, portable charger for your phones (you will be taking lots of photos and videos), and PLENTY of sunscreen! (Trust me on that one. Cloud burn is a real thing people!) For more information, check out the Fargo Airsho’s socials! Or check out their website that is linked below.
